Reviews
I bought this book because I liked the painting on the cover. I was hoping to see other color paintings by Gerhard Richter, but the cover painting was pretty much it. There are some very small color photos of the twin towers taken on 9-11 and some other distressing and iconic photos from the Vietnam War etc, but this book is mostly text. There are some Richter paintings in black and white, I did not read much of the 89 pages of this book but what I did scan told be this is not a happy book. It contains very distressing photos and narrative. There is a sectional blow up of the cover painting for those who want to study this painting, but I could not recommend this book to anyone who wants to look at lots of Richter paintings. If for some reason you want to relive the horror of 9-11 this might be a good book for you. As a matter of fact, for me personally reviewing the photos of the twin towers and the eerie beauty of the cover painting and the other horror photo's gave me a great idea for something I can paint. So I will give this book 4 stars.
